Free mini golf games are popping up everywhere online today. We have done some research of our own and come up with what we think are the most fun and challenging of the lot.

The First one we came about is simply called "Mini Golf" and can be played with either one or two players. The graphics are ok but nothing spectacular. You are only able to choose a player's name from their list of 4. The instructions are straight forward and need little explanation. If you want to enter a high score you are restricted by having to play not only as a single but have to log into their site. There is a "for purchase" game called "Mini Golf Gold" which retails for $18.50 and comes with a few more options. There are 36 holes including the original and the new gold course, 2 skill levels, new zoom feature and smooth play functionality. We haven't tested the retail version but for under $20 it would make a fun gift.

The next free mini golf game we came across is called "Super Star Golf" and it is very challenging. This game is probably for ages 8+. The graphics are outstanding and the holes have lots of variety.

There are five characters to choose from but you can only play this game as a single. The game allows you to pick any club in the bag depending on the shot you are attempting to hit. Strangely enough there are "15 clubs in the bag"...I guess I'll take a 2 stoke penalty right off the bat!

There is a clear bird's eye view of each hole as you play and a wind indicator in the upper left corner of the screen. It's too bad they didn't make a full 18 holes instead of just 9. All in all we enjoyed this game and gave this one 4 1/2 out of 5.

The third free mini golf game we came to that we really enjoyed is one that can really eat up an afternoon when its pouring rain and you can't play with your regular group anyway.

This one is actually very simple yet highly addictive. It is only a putting game and the hole never moves! You ask how on earth is that any fun? Well you just need to try it once and you will see. The slope of the green changes with each and every putt. The screen shows you which way the putt is going to break and you need to judge what line to putt the ball on. The game keeps track of how many consecutive putts you have made and trust me when I say this is anything but easy.
